Erasmus+ youth project meeting “Bees & More”
| SZ-Ybbs |
The aim of the exchange was to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators and ecological diversity and to deepen participants’ understanding of European environmental policy. In addition to workshops and discussion sessions, the program included numerous hands-on activities. Participants gained insights into plant pollination during a guided tour of the FRUTURA greenhouses in Bad Blumau and visited an organic beekeeper in Mühlen to learn more about beehives, honey production, and the protection of native insect species. In the Zirbitzkogel–Grebenzen Nature Park, the young people experienced nature up close, created learning materials, and took part in creative activities such as the “Bee Hive Building Challenge,” during which the students built insect hotels.
The program was rounded off by honey tasting, shared leisure activities and social encounters that fostered a friendly atmosphere and intercultural exchange. A special highlight was the presentation of the European Peace Medal at the Neumarkt community center, combined with a Europe Festival and the ceremonial closing event at Europaburg.
The Erasmus+ Project “Bees & More” thus made a valuable contribution to European youth education, to raising awareness of sustainability, and to strengthening a sense of European community.
