The recent school language week in Malta offered students from 3ABK and 4AHITMN an immersive cultural and linguistic experience through a series of educational excursions.

Organized to encourage language learning and cultural appreciation, students explored the historic capital of Valletta, where they toured iconic sites like the Malta Experience Movie and St. John’s Co-Cathedral, learning about Malta’s history while engaging with local guides in English. A cruise through the Grand Harbour provided breathtaking views of Malta’s fortifications and gave an insight into its maritime heritage. A visit to the ancient city of Mdina allowed them to experience Malta’s medieval heritage as shown in many movies like „Game of Thrones“.

A special highlight was the tour to Dingli Cliffs and the Blue Grotto giving students an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the island. During the Limestone Heritage Park tour in an open-air museum of a former quarry students discovered Malta’s long-standing tradition of limestone carving. By visiting a glass factory and a shop specializing in silver filigree jewellery, they also gained insights into Malta’s craftsmanship. Finally, there was a trip to Marsaxlokk fishing village.

Overall, the language week successfully combined language practice with cultural enrichment, leaving students with improved linguistic skills and a deeper appreciation of Maltese heritage.
